Warmest thanks to Audrey and Dave Elkington (the Archdeacon of Bodmin and the Rural Dean respectively) for the delightful Barbecue Lunch and Garden Party to which they invited all parishioners to their home. There was a great turnout and a very convivial time was enjoyed by all – and even the weather was super!
The Reverend Canon Dave Elkington was given a terrific send off by members of all three congregations in the Benefice at the service held in St Mabyn. He chose all the hymns, including one (Mary Magdalene’s Song) where his wife, the Venerable Audrey Elkington, Archdeacon of Bodmin had written the words, to a well known hymn tune and preached a really inspiring sermon – as always! He will be much missed and Senior Church warden Colin Hyde led the call for Three Cheers and John Lobb, former Churchwarden and very longstanding member of the congregation proposed the toast during the festive refreshments after the service. Warmest thanks to those who baked and helped provide the delicious spread. We will hope to see him from time to time and wish him a very happy retirement.
