For some time the first service of each month has been planned and produced by a team of people from the village. The focus is very much on our village and the content is both challenging and enjoyable. The theme of the first service in December (Advent) was on Christ being a light for our world in difficult times. It was very impressive to see the large number of people who participated.Molly led the service and Anthea lit the candle for Advent. At the beginning Sandra talked about the number of homeless people now sleeping rough in Cornwall. We have the 3rd highest number in England ---just behind Westminster and Brighton. We were asked to support the initiative of the White Hart in Bodmin, which is offering a bed to anyone without shelter.Music was a good mixture of Les playing traditional carols on the organ and the Worship Group playing joyful modern songs.Readings were given by Liz , Jill and Rob while Steve and Molly offered us two thought provoking meditations.Jenny led us in prayers with a special focus on the people in our village, before requesting special prayers for women throughout our world that continue to suffer from gender based violence.Special thanks to those who contributed to make this such a relevant hour in Church, where there is always a especially warm welcome for everyone.
